I visited the Lotte Museum of Art in Seoul and explored several exhibitions, including Shepard Fairey, James Jean, and Jean Michel Basquiat. The Shepard Fairey exhibition was incredible, with a cool beat playing in each room. However, the museum seemed badly organized, lacking explanations, and some art pieces appeared to be missing. The entrance fee was over $15, and despite an early bird discount, I wouldn’t recommend it.
The James Jean exhibit was impressive, featuring dark and whimsical creatures. The lighting in some hallways was a bit problematic, but overall, the museum was clean, well-organized, and staff-friendly. The Kenny Scharf exhibit and the Snoopy exhibition were also highlights, offering a mix of great artwork and a pleasant atmosphere.
The Basquiat exhibition was well-done, displaying large-scale works with layers of meaning. It was a mix of innocence and terror, suitable for both kids and adults. The museum was organized, and I appreciated the thoughtful display.
The Lotte Museum, located on the restaurant floor of Lotte Shopping Center, had a nice atmosphere. The Snoopy exhibition was particularly enjoyable, and the museum offered a good one-day itinerary with nearby attractions.
Despite some issues like high parking fees and occasional confusion about the exhibition location, the museum showcased various renowned artists, and the exhibitions were generally well-received. Overall, it provided a unique and enjoyable art experience in Seoul.
